Life offered me rich material in 2019.  In my “That Girl This Life” blog, I shared amusing and quirky anecdotes courtesy of family, strangers, travel and everyday life.

Writers don’t often know when or where inspiration will pierce the mundane. We also don’t know what spin we will give an idea until we start typing.  Our brains and the connections that link new experiences to forgotten memories often click into place through our senses and surroundings. The element of surprise in the creative process is what drives writers to search for new ways to put meaning into what comes at us every day.

Based on feedback from my readers, here are the five brightest blogs from 2019:

It’s best to “Check Your Pockets” before dropping a coat at the cleaners or before exiting a restaurant. In case you missed this piece or care to re-read, here’s the link: (https://juliemcgueauthor.com/check-your-pockets/).

News reports and radio songs inspired a reflective piece titled, “Do You Believe Most People Are Good?” (https://juliemcgueauthor.com/do-you-believe-most-people-are-good/).

In a “Vote For Spontaneity”, breaking a rule does not always mean you will receive a fine or a scolding (https://juliemcgueauthor.com/sometimes-breaking-rules-is-rewarding/).

Nostalgia and tech advances coalesce in, “The Effort of Creating A Lasting Memory” (https://juliemcgueauthor.com/effort-of-creating-a-lasting-memory/), a piece inspired by photographing my new grandson.

“White Elephant” (https://juliemcgueauthor.com/white-elephant/) combines notes from my summer moving experiences and holiday shopping behavior. I wonder if my experience influenced your own hunt for the right gift.

Thanks for reading in 2019. There is already much in the pipeline for 2020, so I hope you will continue to follow my work.

I welcome your comments and feedback.  Let me know how and what I write tickles your heart.

As always, Julie
