The Best of 2018
The Year in Review

In the case of my blog, Touched By Adoption, the choices are simple. I launched TBA in June of 2018. While I wrote 500-750 words a week since then, several posts stand out.
The blogs that resonated with readers as measured by reader comments and shares:
- “3 Things Adoptees Wonder About” (June 17, 2018)
- “Two Things That Bother Adoptees” (November 5, 2018)
- “Real Parents & Grateful With A Twist” (November 26, 2018)
Blog posts that I enjoyed writing because they allowed me to don my ‘adoptee’ lens and apply it to literature and film:
- “Adoptee’s Perspective on Eleanor Oliphant” (August 30, 2018)
- “Three Identical Strangers” (October 22, 2018)
My favorite posts from other adoption bloggers:
- The Adopted Ones Blog, “Triggers” posted on 10-14-18 because it got me thinking …
- Lynn Grubb, No Apologies Being Me, “9 BETTER Ways to Celebrate National Adoption Awareness Month” 10Nov2018. The section about allowing your child to tell their adoption story through artwork resonated with me.
One of the most important articles I read this year concerning birth mothers and adoption:
- “The maternity homes where ‘mind control’ was used on teen moms to give up their babies.” – The Washington Post
My favorite book to read about adoption because it continues to be on every reading list for adoptees:
- The Girls Who Went Away: The Hidden History of Women Who Surrendered Children for Adoption in the Decades Before Roe v. Wade by Ann Fessler
A highly recommended adoption book I plan to read in 2019:
- A Mother’s Goodbye: A gripping emotional page turner about adoption and a mother’s love – Kindle edition by Kate Hewitt. Literature & Fiction Kindle eBooks @ Amazon.com.
